Merry Christmas, Feliz Navidad, Happy Holidays!

It has been a while. I have no real excuse. Just lack of motivation I suppose. Anyway, last night during Christmas Eve, my sister in law told me a story about my nephew. The story goes like this. They were on line at a museum and he saw a girl with white hair with pink streaks in it and decided to comment (my nephew is 3 years old). He told her "your hair is different, it is beautiful, but different. You want to be wild." She told me this story after he commented to my niece that her hair was beautiful. I should have known hair obsession runs in the family as soon as my father wrote that letter to Ellen Degeneres commenting on how he did not like her new haircut.

Anyway with that, have a Merry Christmas. See you kids in the New Year. Thanks Kim for reminding me of this:

Times Square Beauties

The great thing about working in time square is that there are so many tourists and so many do's to talk about. I was walking back from Bryant Park the other day and spotted this gem of a hairdo. There is something about older ladies and spiked hair. They love it. I don't know why, but older women love height to their hair.

This is a special haircut.

It is very Spike from Degrassi. I wonder if that was her inspiration. I must have looked insane practically speed walking to get this awesome photo. But when I see something, I do something. Like take pictures to comment about later. Ahh sweet technology.

Now this hair is obviously insane, and when I get to be her age, I would never have this look. I already have my old person haircut picked out. But if I were this lady, I'd say she's confident, sassy, but just has some bad style. That is ok. I am just happy this lady doesn't have the tight short curler do that a lot of old ladies love.

Long story short, rock it lady rock it out.

PS - for anyone that has sent me photos, I apologize for not posting. I will have to go back and pull them and post about them later. Forgive me loyal readers. And by readers, I mean my friends and family.

Beach Waves

Hi all, long time no see. Lately I have been searching for hair products to allow my natural wave to come through without it looking like I just rolled out of bed. I decided that during the summer, when it gets too hot to blow dry my hair, it would be great if I could spray something in it and let it dry naturally and look good. This has been my goal for quite some time, but I usually just end up looking like a mess. I decided to buy Sally Hershberger's Wave Spray.

I tested it out today. Well first I realized, I should not put this on my bangs, because it basically just makes my bangs look really greasy. However, I can see how this is good for my ends that are possibly dryer, to make it hang a little better and definitely not look all frizzed out.

I think I want to let my hair get a little longer and some of my layers to grow out before I really start letting my wave come through.

For thinner hair like myself, I think I need to spray a little less than I did, but for thicker hair you probably can spray this crap on as much as possible.

It also has a nice smell to it. Very summery. So I suggest this product for anyone trying to accomplish what I am trying to.

Also, sidenote, I decided to start a new blog at some point basically about the look for less. But stay tuned for that as I am still working on a name since the look for less was a tv show.

Till next time..

TRESemme TRESemme Ooo La La

If you know me or don't know me, I guess it does not really matter, but I am what you call a bargain shopper in really all aspects of my life. I rather spend the little money I have on traveling and going out than buying really lavish things for myself. Hopefully one day this will change, but until then...

Anyway, a while ago while at Sephora, I found a dry shampoo bottle for $11. This was an extremely small bottle and frankly I do not really remember who it was by, but it sucked. The product worked, but it was gone after two uses and for $11, what a waste.

So I gave up the dry shampoo search as I can't really afford to keep buying this to have it run out quickly.

That was until I saw the the TRESemme commercial for their dry shampoo. I got very excited because they are usually fairly cheap, but was this product too good to be true? Well I had to find out. So the next day I was at Target searching for this product, and there it was for $5. And its a pretty big can too. So I bought it and let me tell you it is amazing. I feel like my bangs look better than when I normally wash and dry my hair.

It assisted me out the other night and I plan to buy this as long as it is around. Hopefully it will never go away. I suggest if you get oily looking hair by the end of the day, that you seriously consider spending the $5 for it!

Submission Time

This next one comes from Despina, a dedicated do talkin' reader. She obviously saw this commercial and thought of me. This is definitely an unfortunate haircut. It looks like a razor cut do, on already thin hair. It also looks like there might be some styling wax or something to give a wet look to this haircut. This woman could look so much better with a different haircut. This basically looks like a slicked butt part on top and fringe on the bottom. Now this woman is probably married, because anytime I see something unfortunate, someone is usually in love with them, but I am not going to bash this woman for her choices but rather give a suggestion.

Having thin hair myself, the worst thing you can do, is a razor cut. How do I know? I have been there - it was called my early 20s. When I look at pictures now, I realize why I was so unappealing to the opposite sex. So first things first, grow out those layers. Once she does this, which obviously will take a long time, you can then shape it into something that will give her body and also frame her face better. I do not suggest a straight across bang - I would probably leave most hair off her face except maybe something to the side.

The 2nd major issue is her eyebrows. Ladies, eyebrows are important. Her one eyebrow is starting way too far from her other eyebrow and its not symmetrical. She has to let whatever she plucked there grow back in. Because her face looks off, and this is definitely a big part of it.

I am just going to refer to this hairdo as, a non conventional way to give up. World, try not to give up.

Hair Yay or Nay

Today's commentary is about a discussion I had with a friend of mine a few days ago. She likes a guy, everything about him, except that he is very hairy. Men expect women to be smooth hairless creatures, so can we in turn want these same things?

I do not think this comes down to shallowness because everyone has their thing that turns you off. So if hair turns you off, and it makes you not want to have sex with that person, then I think it is a valid concern.

Luckily these days, hair can be removed. But how do you suggest this without being a jerk? I really have no idea. I do not think there is any good way to tell someone they need to do something different with their body. It will never come out right, and if you want that person to ever be with you, I suggest you keep it to yourself.

The only loophole would be if this person brought it up themselves and you offered to be supportive and go with them to remove said hair.

Personally, I usually care more about the hair on the head than anything else, but I have not been with a hairy man, so that could very well change if I ever so happen to find myself in the arms of one.

That being said, if any company wants to offer me laser hair removal treatment, I will be more than happy to blog about my awesome experience, granted it was awesome.
Thank you.

My talented special friend designed these t-shirts. I suggest you go and buy one. And there is a tshirt with an afro on it - You know how I love afros! (Semi-do related)

Wiggin' Out

So I just got back from Madrid, again, and the first night I was there, I passed by a wig shop. Looked like your typical wig shop, until I saw this gem.

Now granted, I do not live in Spain, but from what I saw and gather, I do not know any woman in Spain that would wear this. I am not even sure why this was in the window as an attention grabber. It should have been put in the back. This cannot possibly allure customers, unless you are like me and wished it was open so you could try it on.

Now I am pretty sure, I have never seen this style on any woman with hair or without hair.

I feel like I can start a social experiment with just wearing different wigs to see the different reactions and get it on video. If I did not have a day job, this is what I would do with my time.

If anyone wants to start this project, let me know. PS Everyone should go to Spain!

Feliz Ano Nuevo!

Happy New Year everyone. New Year's is always special because everyone is getting all done up, hair, makeup, sparkly dresses and such. Well I guess not everyone, but many people like to go all out to bring in the new year. As I am on the subway heading out to Brooklyn to celebrate with my crew, I noticed a girl on the train with.....are you ready.......a zig zag part. I have not seen a zig zag part since....I honestly have no idea when the last time I saw one was. It's been years. So long in fact, that I forgot that people did these and apparently are still doing this.

So while I am on the train, I of course cannot communicate with the people around me about this phenomena nor can I discuss with this woman, who looked fairly normal otherwise, about her choice for the night.

Alas, I texted Vavoom to share my discovery of the part, who was also very excited by this. I told him he would be the only one who understood, and it was true, he did.

I was so stunned by this hair part, it almost made me wish I could start an interviewing process to find out if this is her normal hairdo, or something special for New Year's. The sad part is, I will just never know.

For those of you that have no idea what this is, feast your eyes. And of course, may this year be merry and wonderful. Take care of your hair in 2011!
